Our Story

We met in 2016 at Bowdoin College, in Blake's hometown of Brunswick. Over a decade later, we can't wait to officially tie the knot in Wiscasset just 30 minutes away. Mid-coast Maine holds a special place in our hearts and we cannot wait to celebrate there with you in June 2027.

Travel & Accommodations

While our wedding venue is in Wiscasset, we highly recommend guests stay in Boothbay Harbor - a beautiful seaside town just 20 minutes from the venue and the hub of our weekend's events and transportation.

We suggest renting a car so you have the flexibility to explore the region. However, we will be providing transportation to/from wedding events on Saturday so a car is definitely not required. Friday night events are walkable from recommended hotels in downtown Boothbay Harbor.

Flying In

by air

Closest airports:

  • Portland International Jetport (PWM) in Portland, Maine (recommended) — 1–1.5 hr drive
  • Bangor International Airport (BGR) in Bangor, Maine — 2 hr drive
  • Boston Logan (BOS) in Boston, MA (farthest but most flight options) — 3.5 hr drive

Getting to Boothbay from the airports:

  • Rental cars are available at all three airports.
  • If you prefer to book a taxi or car service, below are some options. We highly recommend arranging this in advance as Ubers/Lyfts are limited in the region.
    • Out of Portland: Portland Taxi Service and Maine Airport Express Cab offer rides to Boothbay Harbor.
    • Out of Bangor: Sterling Elite (207) 785-3100; Northern Maine Shuttle Service (207) 216-2033; ABC Taxi (207) 659-4455.
    • You can also arrange a return or round-trip service with Boothbay-based companies like Bo Bo's Coastal Cabs (207-380-4182).
  • Boston Logan is also served by Concord Coach Lines, a bus service with direct routes to Maine including Portland and Wiscasset.

Driving

by car

Approximate driving times to Boothbay Harbor:

  • From Brunswick: ~45 min
  • From Boston: ~3.5 hrs
  • From New York City: ~6.5 hrs

See the Explore section for our favorite stops in Maine to break up the drive.

Note: US Route 1 can get congested in the summer, especially on the weekends, so plan accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there parking at the wedding venue?

Yes, there is parking at the venue. We will also be providing transportation via buses between downtown Boothbay Harbor and Marianmade Farm.

What is the dress code?

The wedding ceremony and reception dress code is Summer Formal — suit jackets with ties and mid-length to long dresses are encouraged. Please note that most wedding events will be on grass and it can get chilly at night (~55-60 degrees).

Are children welcome?

We love your kids, but are keeping the wedding ceremony and reception adults only. We are looking into local babysitting options for those interested. Children are welcome at the Friday Welcome Party. Thank you for your understanding!

Where should I stay?

Downtown Boothbay Harbor will be the "hub" of our weekend events and transportation. Ubers are not plentiful in this part of Maine, so we recommend staying within walking distance of downtown Boothbay Harbor if you don't want to worry about driving to/from any events.

Things to Do in Maine

Whether you arrive early or make a whole weekend of it, here are some of our favorite spots around and on the way to Boothbay Harbor.

Boothbay & Wiscasset

Boothbay Harbor

Wiscasset

Known as "the prettiest village in Maine" and home to our wedding venue.

  • Red's Eats — Best lobster rolls in New England!! Get there early. Lines can be long but worth the wait. We recommend the lobster rolls (w/ side of butter!), fried scallops, and Maine blueberry cake.
  • Water Street Kitchen — Relaxed sit-down restaurant with great seafood and water views.
  • Widener Company — A quaint gift shop with a charming mix of antique and new home goods.

Broader Lincoln County

  • Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens — only a 10 min drive from downtown BBH, New England's largest botanical garden covers over 300 acres and features Guardians of the Seeds by Thomas Dambo.
  • Boothbay Craft Brewery — unique indoor/outdoor brewery with great craft beers and a tavern serving farm-to-table dishes, including wood-fired pizzas.
  • Damariscotta — Known for its world-renowned oysters, Damariscotta is another quintessential Maine town just a 25 min drive from Boothbay Harbor.
  • There are lots of local pottery and antique shops on the drive from Wiscasset to Boothbay.

On the way to Boothbay

You'll drive through Freeport, Brunswick, and Bath on your way to Boothbay Harbor. Below are some recs if you want to stop and break up the drive.

brunswick

Bowdoin College

Where we met each other and so many of our best friends joining the weekend's celebrations! A gorgeous campus worth a stroll. If you have time, Bowdoin's Art and Arctic museums on campus are great and free.

For food, delicious and easy options include Wild Oats, Big Top Deli, Dutchman's Bagels, and Brunswick Diner. For shopping, there are many stores along Maine St including our favorite, Lemont Block Collective, for art and gifts handmade by local Maine artists.

freeport

L.L. Bean & More

The original L.L. Bean flagship store is open 24/7, and is surrounded by dozens of major outlets and local shops. Lily's Food Cart sells the best mini dumplings in a cup. The Bakeshop serves amazing sandwiches, homemade fries, and baked goods.

bath

City of Ships

Bath is a charming historic town known for its maritime history. Some of our favorite restaurants include Mae's Cafe & Bakery for brunch, The Cabin for pizza, and Sister's Gourmet Deli for sandwiches.

harpswell & bailey island

Coastal Views

Slightly out of the way to Boothbay Harbor... Harpswell, Bailey Island, and Orr's Island have amazing coastal views and walking trails.

We'd recommend going to Bowdoin Coastal Studies Center, Harpswell's Mitchell Field, or the Giant Steps if you want to get out of the car, walk around, and soak in the Maine coast. Cook's Lobster & Ale House on Bailey Island and Dolphin Marina Restaurant in Harpswell are amazing dining options on the water.

Portland

Whether you're flying into Portland or driving through it, it's an incredible food hub and worth exploring on foot — especially the Old Port. Here are a few of our favorites...
